Edenbrook Partners are working with a leading underwriting insurance group who are seeking a candidate to fill the role of Financial Reporting Accountant. The purpose of this role is to support the Finance Department of UK Group of Lloyd’s insurance market companies, the role will be responsible for the preparation of internal and external reports of the department, including Group Company reporting, all Lloyd’s regulatory returns and other project work. The role will also include some aspects of Syndicate Accounting for live Syndicates, including reviewing data input, liaising with underwriters and actuaries for the production of management information and regulatory returns.


Responsibilities of the role:


  • Preparation of all outputs of syndicates, including QMA, QMB, QMC, SII, US Reporting,
  • Canadian Reporting, FCA/PRA reporting, statutory accounts, amongst others
  • Carrying out necessary liaison with parties involved in the process, in particular withinrequired
  • the Finance area, to ensure the end result is delivered in the timeframe and standards
  • The accounting of insurance technical and non-technical transactions in the relevant
  • ledgers of the Syndicates, including the handling of all technical aspects affecting the
  • syndicate ledgers
  • All operational aspects of the production of ledgers, including the preparation of
  • account reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet and profit & loss items
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for group companies, including corporate members
  • Production of analytical tools and analytical memos supporting each one of the reportsResponsible for the following Reporting activities

  • The preparation and maintenance of timetables and department resource planning
  • Handling of all technical aspects affecting the production of syndicate returns
  • Managing all operational aspects of the production of documents, in order to ensure the timely and accurate production of syndicate returns. A Candidate for this role should have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Exposure to the Lloyd’s market as an accountant or an auditor
  • Exposure to reporting activities to senior management committees
  • Experience with live Syndicates
  • Exposure to a SOX environment
  • Working knowledge of Lloyd’s accounting and reporting rules, UK GAAP, Companies Act
  • Advanced experience of using Excel
  • Advanced report writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication
  • Knowledge of Lloyd’s software

  • CIMA / ACCA / CA
