New opportunity with a leading reinsurer, whereby the successful candidate will require strong communication and organisational skills. They will need to be self-motivated and be capable of prioritizing a broad range of activities. They will be required to coordinate and monitor the Company’s reinsurance operations and work diligently on a broad range of finance related tasks.
The role is responsible for managing the Company’s reinsurance accountants who are directly responsible for handling all contract bookings, cash transactions and processing aspects of claim notifications. In addition, the role involves working collaboratively with other members of the finance team and counterparts in Ireland, Bermuda and US in relation to regular responsibilities and segment wide initiatives.
Key responsibilities & Accountabilities
• Foster and support a culture within the reinsurance accounting team that strives for the highest quality technical data
• Set goals, monitor performance, and conduct formal performance appraisals for the reinsurance accounting team
• Monitor the reinsurance accounting team to ensure reinsurance accounting transactions are captured appropriately, accurately, and completely in a timely manner in the reinsurance accounting system
• Ensure that all relevant deadlines and SOX requirements are met
• Provide support to internal / external auditors, directly or at the request of colleagues, as Required
• Undertake / support internal projects related to reinsurance transactional data, processes, systems migrations, or enhancements, etc. as required
• Undertake / support the integration and development of external initiatives i.e. electronic data interchange
• Provide support to internal / external auditors, directly or at the request of colleagues, as required
• Assist with finance project work, initiatives and implementations
To be successful in this role, you will need to be/have
• Extensive operations experience
• Knowledge of SQL/database coding, Reinsurance Accounting systems a distinct advantage
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products and advanced Excel skills
• Strong ability to deliver results under deadlines and competing objectives
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong communication skills in written and verbal formats; ability to address broad range of audiences including senior management and technical experts
