An international insurer that operates in the Lloyd’s and company markets is currently seeking a Deputy Head of Compliance. The selected candidate will join a large team that is also growing reporting directly to the head of compliance with no direct reports. You will have the opportunity to business partner with the head of compliance – challenge both him and the rest of the team on current processes and procedures and have the ability to bring a fresh approach and ideas to the table, not accepting the status quo. This role would best suite someone who is looking to take their first step towards a head of compliance position.

It would be advantageous if you had exposure to the following areas but not limited to:

    • Governance and Control Frameworks
    • Policy Development
    • Delegated Authority
    • Risk Management and Conduct Risk
    • Compliance Monitoring and Effectiveness
    • Data Analysis
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Management Information
    • Lloyd’s Minimum Standards


  • University Degree (desirable)
  • Working to or attained CERT CII/CII
  • Experience of insurance industry is very important
  • The candidate should have a strong knowledge of the insurance industry, especially non-life sectors.  They must also have a good understanding of the UK regulatory environment. Some knowledge and experience of other regulatory environments in Europe, the Middle East or Africa desirable
  • The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to work well within a team.  Strong inter-personnel skills and be skilled at communicating compliance and regulatory issues to key stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
