New opportunity with an international specialist insurer sitting in their Syndicate Finance team, responsible for a wide range of internal and external financial reporting for the companies three Lloyd’s Syndicates. Reporting into the Head of Syndicate Business Partnering, you’ll be sat in the business partnering and MI sub-team who are responsible for the monthly production of high-quality financial MI and analysis to support business decisions that contribute to the Syndicate results. Key responsibilities & Accountabilities • Develop excellent timely & accurate financial reporting and tracking of the business’s strategic objectives for the functions you support in line with agreed KPI’s. • Take a structured approach to drive collaboration between business functions and all areas of Group Finance. Holding regular discussions with Finance Managers, Actuarial functions and other business unit accounting teams to discuss movements, issues and solutions. • Preparing management reports and guiding people through them. • Engage with projects to continuously improve processes and activities that include: evaluation of systems and processes to enhance information reliability, accuracy, interrogation and insight for the business. • Provide business unit performance analysis, assessing actual and forecast deviation from initial plans, highlighting issues and opportunities and providing guidance business leaders. • Creating and posting adhoc journals when required, adhering to internal controls. • Produce and maintain key controls and data governance documentation. (Controls Dashboard) • Use system and process knowledge to streamline existing models to keep up with ever tighter reporting deadlines. • Support wider Syndicate finance function with ad-hoc / cross training tasks. • Support Change projects in the finance function, with planning, testing and implementation. • Learn how to extract and manipulate large data sets in various systems, analyse and interpret data and post relevant journals. • Develop in depth knowledge of the business profile and the wider industry. To be successful in this role, you will need to be/have • Qualified Accountant (i.e., ACCA/ACA/CIMA). • University graduate. • Lloyd’s syndicate insurance experience preferable. • Strong system and IT skills, able to pick up new systems with minimal guidance. • Confident communicator who builds good relationships across the business. • Strong numeracy skills with ability to interpret data.
